What is powder coating?
Powder coating is a type of coating that is applied as a free-flowing, dry powder. The powder can come in thousands of color and texture choices and unlike conventional liquid paint which is delivered via an evaporating solvent, powder coating is applied electrostatically and then cured under heat or with ultraviolet light.
It’s uses include coating of metals, such as household appliances, aluminum extrusions, drum hardware, automobiles, and bicycle frames. Powder coating provides better performance than wet paint—it is more resistant to chipping, scratching, and other wear because of the thermal bonding it undergoes during curing, and because it can be applied in much thicker layers. Powder coating can keep its finish for 5 up 10 years because of the pre-treatment to protect its longevity. It is known for its resistance to chemicals, corrosion and weather.
